Parents & Families

Parents and family members are a vital part of our community. We are fortunate to have active families in our program, especially in our Honors Gator Families Facebook group where parents graciously share their experiences, resources, and advice with each other. Our parents also have a direct connection to address questions and share feedback with program leadership in the group.

We especially enjoy seeing our families - sometimes for the very first time - at the Medallion Ceremony for graduating seniors. This ceremony for students who have completed their Honors Program requirements is held each fall and spring during Commencement Weekend. In-person ceremonies are live-streamed so families near and far can share their pride as their seniors are individually recognized.

If you would like more information about how you could be involved with the Honors Program as a parent or family member, please contact Dr. Melissa Johnson. Ideas include sharing internship or shadowing opportunities that we can advertise to UF Honors students in the Honors on Wednesday e-news, hosting regional receptions for new Honors students, or making a tax-deductible financial contribution to the program.
