The Student Honors Organization (SHO) serves the Honors Program and its members by hosting events throughout the academic year that support community engagement. SHO's most notable events include the Fall Kick Off, Fall and Spring Reading Day Retreats at the Austin Cary Forest, PJs and Paddling at Lake Wauburg and Spring Formal.  

Mission

The Student Honors Organization (SHO) strives to bring members of the Honors community together to establish meaningful connections and create lifelong memories. 

Membership

All students in the Honors Program are members of SHO and are encouraged to attend SHO events.

SHO leadership is comprised of Officers and Assistant Directors. Recruitment for Officers takes place in mid-spring; recruitment for Assistant Directors takes place early in fall. First-year students are encouraged to apply for Assistant Director roles. Check the Honors on Wednesday for application information and deadlines.

Honors students interested in serving on SHO can expect to:

  • Gain leadership, event management, and strategic planning experience
  • Create valuable connections with peers and faculty
  • Develop a powerful network across campus
