1. ANNOUNCEMENT: SERU Survey:
The Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey is a comprehensive survey administered to all undergraduates at UF and other universities across the country.
UF wants to know what’s important to its undergraduates, what’s working well, and what needs improvement to help make our school one of the top public universities. The SERU survey covers topics from international student life and study abroad to campus climate and much more!

2. ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENT: McKinsey & Company Undergraduate Women’s Summit:
The McKinsey Undergraduate Women’s Summit was established with the goal of meeting and supporting talented female undergraduates in their professional growth. The one-day program will include “Consulting 101,” an exciting keynote speaker, problem-solving overview, and other activities. We hope you’ll join us to learn and connect with your peers alongside a group of inspiring professional women.

3. ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Rethinking Modern Counterterrorism:
John J. Mulligan, the deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center, will speak at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 13, in the Pugh Hall Ocora on the current terrorist threat environment, both global and national, reviewing recent history and examining the evolving nature of terrorist threats. Mulligan describes current challenges facing the U.S. counterterrorism mission and the manner in which the U.S. has sought to adapt to both changing terror methods and a changing operational landscape. He also suggests ideas on how to frame this problem in the longer term while addressing more immediate security requirements.
The event is cosponsored by the University of Florida Department of Political Science and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service
The event is free and open to the public. It will be streamed live at www.bobgrahamcenter.ufl.edu.
4. ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Higher Education During the Great Disruption:
The threats to the future of our species are manifold as we move further into a century that is characterized by accelerating disruptions of climate, biosphere, and human systems. Multiple lines of evidence show that natural conditions that were favorable for the development of civilization are rapidly degrading. Higher education has an ethical imperative to provide the foundation of a sustainable civilization. Universities must transform themselves into institutions organized around transdisciplinary programs grounded in ecological and sustainability literacy. Reframing higher education to meet the challenges of accelerating disruptions will require a revolution in the purposes and structures of the university. Teaching, learning, scholarship, and research for sustainability must become the highest priorities of the university. Collectively, faculty have much of the power to implement these reforms.
Stephen Mulkey, President Emeritus of Unity College will present “Higher Education During the Great Disruption” as part of the Imagining Climate Change: Science and Humanities in Dialogue series on Thursday, April 13 at 7:00pm in the Reitz Union Chamber.

5. ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENT: An Evening with Tom Stoppard:
The thirteen actors and Dr. Homan from the English Department will stage a collage of well-known witty scenes from the playwright—Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Real Inspector Hound, Jumpers, Enter a Free Man, Every Good Boy Deserves Favor, Dirty Linen, Artist Descending a Staircase—and much more. Sid Dobrin will make a guest appearance on stage as the Player in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. There will also be music!
Afterwards there will be a special surprise with the premier of a new (very) short play.
This event is free and open to the public and takes place on Friday, April 14 at 7:30pm in Ustler Hall.
The show is a fund-raiser for the Scholarship Fund of Women’s Studies.

6. JOB OPPORTUNITY: Multiple Summer Student Assistant and Counselor Positions:
The UF Center for Precollegiate Education and Training is looking for several talented and motivated individuals to join our team to assist with multiple science programs for students and teachers. Full and part time positions are available from three to eight weeks in duration including office assistance and on-site day and residential counselor positions.

7. LEADERSHIP: Residence Hall Week Staff Applications:
Residence Hall Week is a yearly week-long series of events to be held at the beginning of the fall semester. We hope to put on a great program to show the incoming freshmen what it's like to be on the campus as a UF Gator! The tentative dates are August 17-24. We will be working as a team to decide on a theme, plan each event, and have a great time.
If you're interested in joining us for something more low-key than a directorship, we will be needing ample volunteers and other coordinators, so stay tuned for future announcements.
Directorships include (but are not limited to) Chief of Staff, Media and Technology Director(s), Facilities and Logistics Director, Entertainment Director, Spirit Director, and Registration Director.
