About Us

Incoming | Honors Program Scholarships | Domestic | Overseas

UF students apply to numerous prestigious scholarship programs that fund undergraduate and graduate study in the U.S. and abroad. The Honors Program promotes these scholarships and supports students through the application process. Past UF winners have included a Rhodes, Mitchell, several Udalls, and Trumans, many Fullbright Fellowships, and others. As with all prestigious scholarships, students must start early with their application, allowing plenty of time to edit, rewrite, and collect letters of recommendation.

2008 Fall Scholarships course

Planning to apply for a Truman, Goldwater, Udall, or Beinecke Scholarship? Please enroll in IDH 4715 during fall semester. This one credit course meets every Monday during 9th period in 119 Little Hall. Local application deadlines for the next cycle are late November (eligibility: Goldwater and Udall: students will be in their 3or 5th semester next fall; Truman and Beinecke: student will be in their 5th semester next fall.

If you are thinking about competing for these highly competitive scholarships, it is essential that you get a head start and take this one credit class in the fall. By the end of November you will have a draft application. Winning one of these is a career-maker!

For information on the scholarships, please read about them on our site. You can also visit us in 29 Tigert and look at past applications.

To enroll in the class, please e-mail Dr. Dickison at doctord@ufl.edu.

Upcoming Deadlines

2007-2008 Local deadlines for nomination by the University of Florida for prestigious scholarships:

November 30, 2007: Goldwater, Truman, Carnegie
January 18, 2008: Udall, Beinecke

By this time you should have at least a first draft of the application (you don't need letters of recommendation at this point) so you can be working on the draft over the summer. These nationally competitive scholarships require many revisions so it is best to start early.

If you are thinking about applying for a Fulbright or Gates-Cambridge, it is not too soon to start working on these too. Gates-Cambridge has a deadline in early October; Fulbright a campus deadline in early September. Gates-Cambridge does not require UF nomination.
