Freshmen Honors Admission Process and Timeline

The Freshman Honors Program application is now part of the overall University of Florida application for admission. On the Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success application, or the Common App; please check the box indicating interest in the Honors Program and respond to the two additional essays specific to our program. The deadline to apply is November 1. More information here:

Please note that the decision to apply (or not apply) for UF Honors has no impact on your general UF admissions decision. The UF Office of Admissions will not factor application to UF Honors into their decision.

All Honors decisions will be released as part of the University of Florida admissions decisions in late February. Please note that we cannot release acceptance information via non-UF email accounts or over the phone.

UF Honors admissions decisions will either be a conditional acceptance or a denial - there are no deferrals or wait lists. If you receive a conditional acceptance, you will be required to confirm your intent to participate in the Honors Program by May 1. Acceptances are conditional until this confirmation has been sent directly to UF Honors. Admission will be revoked to all students who do not confirm to us by May 1. Note, this confirmation is unique to UF Honors and includes an $80 (plus service charge) membership dues for the Student Honors Organization. It is completely separate from the UF tuition deposit / confirmation.


Applicants will respond to two essay questions:

Essay 1: A longer essay prompt about the Honors Program
Essay 2: An involvement essay question
