Freshmen Honors Admission Process and Timeline
The Freshman Honors Program admissions process for incoming students takes place after a student has been admitted to the University of Florida. In 2017, the UF Office of Admissions will release their decisions on February 10. Students interested in applying for the Freshman Honors Program may begin applying after noon on Monday, February 13.
We are no longer accepting applications.
Students will be notified of acceptance into the Freshman Honors Program no earlier than March 31 after 6:00pm via their UF email account. Decisions will also be posted on the Honors application site. Please note that we cannot release acceptance information via non-UF email accounts or over the phone.
Admissions decisions will either be a conditional acceptance or a denial - there are no deferrals or wait lists. If you receive a conditional acceptance, you will be required to confirm your intent to participate in the Honors Program by May 1. Acceptances are conditional until this confirmation has been sent directly to UF Honors. Admission will be revoked to all students who do not confirm to us by May 1. Note, this confirmation is unique to UF Honors and includes a $60 (plus service charge) membership dues for the Student Honors Organization. It is completely separate from the UF tuition deposit / confirmation.
Applicants will respond to three essay questions:
- Essay 1: A longer essay prompt that is required of all applicants.
- Essay 2: A creative essay question. Applicants will choose one from three possible prompts, as developed by current Honors students.
- Essay 3: An involvement essay question that is required of all applicants.
You may save your work and exit if you wish, but once you have clicked the final SUBMIT button you will no longer be able to edit your application. Note, the application works best in Chrome or Safari.
