SHO - Student Honors Orgranization

SHO is a student-run organization committed to enriching the honors experience at UF. SHO offers an excellent means to become more involved in student life with its social, academic, and community service events. Past activities have included a back-to-school barbecue, Hawaiian Sunset party, open mike night, Exam Cram Cafe, and Haunted Hume. All honors students are welcome to participate in SHO and are automatically members.

HA - Honors Ambassadors

The Honors Ambassadors organization is for enthusiastic and involved honors students who are dedicated to leadership, service, and fun. These students serve as official ambassadors of the Honors Program to new and prospective students.

In conjunction with the Honors Ambassadors, the Honors Office invites all prospective honors students to visit the University of Florida campus for our Fridays with Honors program. Fridays with Honors sessions include a tour of campus, group advising, an honors information session and a tour of the honors dorms.

Honor Societies

Honorary organizations have been an essential part of higher education for over one hundred years. Their purpose is to encourage and honor superior scholarship, service and leadership achievement. UF students and recent graduates are often mailed invitations to honor societies. While there are a number of honor societies that are legitimate and make a great addition to your resume, there are also plenty of organizations that unscrupulously collect membership dues without offering any benefits.

Please visit the website below to see examples of well-established honor societies and to learn about the criteria you should consider before joining an honorary organization.
