The Honors Program is a four semester program requiring students to take four honors courses. When you have completed the program (along with the criteria below) you can apply for a Certificate of Completion and an Associate of Arts degree with honors or high honors.
Certificate of Completion
Once you have successfully completed the Honors Program requirements (found here) you are eligible for a Certificate of Completion. You can find the application here. Applications for the certificate should be taken to the Honors Office in 29 Tigert Hall. You will be notified by email when it is ready to be picked up.
Associate of Arts with Honors
One of the many advantages of being in the Honors Program is the chance to receive your AA with Honors or High Honors. This degree is not automatically awarded to you. You must apply at the Registrar's Office after you have completed 60 credit hours (includes AP, IB, dual enrollment and summer credits), all General Education requirements, Gordon Rule requirements, and four Honors courses.
GPA determines whether you receive Honors or High Honors for your degree. Students who have 4 Honors courses and a GPA below 3.0 for their first 60 hours will receive no Honors designation. Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 for their first 60 hours will receive an Honors designation on their AA. Students with a GPA above 3.5 for their first 60 hours will receive a High Honors designation. Note that this GPA is not your cumulative GPA at UF-- this is only the UF GPA. computed up through completion of 60 credit hours (even if the credits are not all UF as in the case of dual enrollment and AP/IB).
You may apply any time after completion of 60 hours. However, there are deadlines each semester that designate when all degree requests must be turned in by each semester. These deadlines can be found in the Critical Dates section of ISIS on My UFL.
Degrees are issued at the end of every semester.
