Research Interests: Psycholinguistics, Language and the Brain
Co-investigator on this project is Ratree Wayland (Linguistics; email@example.com). The aim of this project is to determine to what extent English speakers can learn to distinguish among lexical tones (found in languages such as Thai, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Yoruba and many others). Several training methods and subject populations will be compared. The (honors) student's focus will be on conducting behavioral experiments; however the student may be able to assist in running experiments using electrophysiology (funding pending).
Requirements: Preferably a background in Linguistics, CSD and/or Cognitive Psychology with an interest in speech perception and language learning. Previous experience with programming and human experimental research is an advantage, but not required.
