Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Research
The main thrust of this REU program is the research experience for students. Cultural immersion serves as an enrichment activity. Therefore, this program provides an opportunity for students who are interested in doing research on a global scale to work with international scientists. Ghana is a tropical country with a rich biodiversity and extensive array of ecosystems that have not been studied. The projects are focused on bioprospecting, ecology, conservation biology and environmental studies. Participants work closely with their faculty mentors throughout the summer. Upon their return to the US, they will be expected to present their work at regional and national meeting. Click here for a sample of the projects previously done by students.
