2016 Visitation Day

Registration for Spring 2016 will open on April 1, 2016.

Visitation Day offers prospective Honors families the opportunity to:

  • Tour the UF campus
  • Experience the Honors Residential College at Hume Hall
  • Participate in an information session with Honors students and Honors advisors
  • Eat lunch on campus with Honors Ambassadors
  • Attend Academic and Breakout sessions

This is an opportunity for prospective Honors students who have been accepted into the Freshman Honors Program for the 2016-2017 academic year to discover how the University of Florida Honors Program can enhance their undergraduate experience.

Overview

The 2016 Visitation Day will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in the New Physics Building (NPB). Families are welcome to begin checking in to the event at 8:45am. Opening remarks will begin at 9:30am, after which families will attend two 25-minute academic sessions focused around areas that their students are interested in studying. After two of these sessions, families will be separated into groups which will then rotate through a tour of the Honors Residential College at Hume Hall, lunch with the Honors Ambassadors, and a Question & Answer session with an Honors Advisor. Following these rotations, families will choose two 20-minute breakout sessions to attend based on their students’ interests. Visitation Day will conclude at 3:15pm.

Early Arrivals

For families that will be arriving in town on Saturday, we will be hosting an informal meet & greet with the Honors Ambassadors at the Jennings Residence Hall on April 9 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Any families who are attending Visitation Day are also invited to attend the meet & greet. Limited parking is available at the Rawlings Residence Hall parking garage across the street from Jennings at the intersection of Museum Road and Newell Drive. On Saturday at 3:15pm prior to our informal meet & greet, families will have the option to take a full campus tour with the UF Cicerones.

Friday, April 8 is the annual Orange & Blue debut, the Florida Gators' spring football game. This game is not associated with the Honors Program or Visitation Day, but families who will be in town are encouraged to attend. More information on the Orange & Blue game and all of the Gator sports happening that weekend can be found here

If you have already attended an Afternoon with Honors tour, there is no need for you to attend this event. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $15 per person and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Any cancellations made at least one week prior to Visitation Day will be given a full refund. For additional information regarding lodging and directions, please visit the admissions website here. Should you have any questions regarding Visitation Day or the Meet-and-Greet event, please contact the Honors Ambassadors at visitationday@gmail.com.
